Beautiful Burgundy

Now, as you may have noticed, winter is drawing closer! Well actually...I'd say it's already here. Thankfully though, that can only mean one thing. Burgundy is back!!

Now I know you can get all types of clothes in this colour all year round, it's just that I especially love wearing it at this time of the year. I believe it's because it's a dark colour which is fitting because the days are definitely getting shorter and it seems to be pitch black at around 4 o'clock in the afternoon! So wearing it just feels right.

Whilst I was doing a bit of Internet research, I discovered some lovely burgundy items which I absolutely am considering buying to get me through these next few long winter months. I don't really recommend wearing them all at once (although you can if you want) but burgundy can go with so many other colours - navy and blacks are best.

I hope you like them too :)

Fashion for Charity

As I was scrolling through the Vogue News website (something I tend to spend a lot of my time doing) I came across an article which really caught my eye...International super model Naomi Campbell is lending her support to those effected by the devastating typhoon that brought horrific destruction to the Philippines this weekend.

After setting up the charity Fashion For Relief back in 2005, Naomi has raised funds for several natural disasters including Hurricane Katrina and the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. This time she is raising money by selling a limited addition photography print taken by her friend and colleague John-Paul Pietrus. Being half Philippino himself, Pietrus discussed with the model about the ways they could raise funds and help promote awareness for the rescue efforts, that are taking place at the moment. The prints are being sold for £20 each and the money is going to the Red Cross Disaster Fund.

I don't know about you, but whenever I see news like this it always makes me happy because some celebrities have a lot of power; so when they use this power to do good and raise awareness it is very inspiring.

Fireworks with friends :)

Yesterday, along with about 15 of my friends, I went to the Firework Spectacular which was being held at my old primary school, in the cute, small village that I live.

Because 'official' bonfire night was the Tuesday before, the school held it this Saturday so that many more people could come. And they did! As soon we got through the gates (after queuing for a good 10ish minutes) we were hit by the sea of people milling around in the playground. Being such a big event for our sleepy village, the place seemed to have a lovely atmosphere to it (which was boosted by the delicious warming smells of hotdogs and burgers cooking away)! Yummmm....

Once we'd all regrouped (after I did some catching up with a few class mates I hadn't seen since I left primary school just over 4 years ago..oopps :S) we made our way to watch the first of the displays. This display was labelled as 'a smaller display with fewer loud bangs for families with younger children', so that is what we were expecting. Oh how wrong were we! It was AMAZING! Lasting maybe 8ish minutes, the display filled the sky with vibrant, glittery booms; the colour lighting up the dark night.

Thinking the second display wouldn't be able to match the first, we hung around laughing and being the crazy teenagers that we are. Nevertheless, yet again, we were wrong! It was gorgeous. We stood there, "OOOing" and "AHHHHing" for another 10 minutes until the final fireworks rocketed high into the distant sky :)
It was a truly magical evening...

The reason behind writing...

Alrighty my first ever blog! Aghhhh what do I write? I could start with an (extremely late) 'October Favourites' post,  a 'What's in my bag?', a 'Winter Essentials' or even a make-up review! So many choices!! But instead, I'm going to write about writing.

You might be a bit confused...well I am too. What do I even mean by that? I don't know. However what I'm attempting to say is that this post is all about why I love to write. :)

I've always loved writing. Ever since I was a little cutie (it's debateable) primary school kid, I have loved writing. Creative writing has always been a favourite, getting to write about anything, letting your imagination run wild and free! Thinking back, it was all I looked forward to when I walked through the massive (compared to my tiny 6 year old self) black gates and into school. One day I would be putting my pen onto paper to describe a bear that lived in the woods close by, the next it would be me writing my own versions of my favourite story books. My creativity was endless.

But sadly, primary school was were the writing finished. As I began high school I was no longer aloud to interpret a jelly fishes' view on the world, in my English lessons; instead I had to write long essays discussing why an author of a poem, consisting of three pages, had placed a coma at the end of his 40th line. What!? How could I now be creative, inspired and imaginative? They were telling me to show my individuality, however they weren't letting me be my true self, express the dreams that were swirling round inside my pea-sized head. Instead I had to conform, if I want to achieve my 'target grade' then I have to hit all the criteria.

So this brings us to now...And the actual, more real, reason I have begun this blog. It's the one place I can express my creativity but also share it with people, experience what others think. With a few 'Life', 'Beauty' and 'Fashion' post thrown into this very pink #bloggersphere, this is where you and I can really show our imagination as writers! :D
